A desperate Policeman operating at the Obabiyi junction axis of the popular Igando/ Ikotun road ,Igando/Ikotun LCDA,Lagos,has allegedly killed a 28 years old moslem man identified as Fatai Ayanfe ,who was about to buy a loaf of bread after he broke the day’s Ramadan fast at about 10pm,last night.
Eye witnesses account had it that the policeman attempted to frantically apprehend a commercial motorcyclist who operated at curfew time,and in the process had fired a shot which missed his target and hit the now deceased man,and killed him instantly.
According to findings by Timeswatch, the deceased has two children,and his wife just had a baby a fortnight ago.
This sad event has substantiated the widespread lamentation that the police is enforcing the curfew order in the most brutal way as though they are combating external aggression.
Further findings proved that some police officers who were with the trigger-excited officer who bolted after the killing tried to take the corpse away but were stopped by angry youths who later took the corpse to the Ikotun police station but were chased.
Efforts to reach the Lagos PPRO ,Elkana Bala on phone before publication was futile due to network hitches.
