A society watch group, Crusaders International Alliance, CIA, has declared the Area ‘M’ Command of the Lagos State Police Command, a police platform where the millennium policing idealogies are active. This rating followed covert findings by the various researchers attached to the group operating in various parts of Lagos.
The CIA passed a vote of confidence on this outfit due to the various positive remarks from people and direct discoveries that revealed the Area Commander, ACP, Ifeanyi Ohuruzo as a man of principle, honour and integrity, who will not tolerate all acts capable of dragging the name of the Nigeria Police Force in the mud and infringing on citizens rights.
According to the group’s President, Comrade Folowosele Joel who notified Timeswatch of the rating, the Area Commander has exemplified a man whose passion as a seasoned senior police is to continually discharge his duties fairly but fearlessly, ensuring that results are recorded in the interest of the nation.
He stated that the leadership of Area ‘M’ maintains a disciplinary culture which makes it mandatory for the men and officers there to observe contemporary or modern police principles, which in turn keep corrupt practices at bay.
The President unequivocally pointed at situations that warranted the rating and commendation given to Area ‘M’ under the headship of ACP Ohuruzo.
He noted; “During the lockdown period, CIA tracked Ohuruzo to various areas of his command as he monitored developments to specifically confirm the good reports from various quarters.
“At the shore of a River at the Igando Areas that leads to Ogun state, he found some canoe operators who from all indications did not know the rules of govt concerning the lockdown; rather than command their arrest, he asked his men to gather them spaciously, and pronto, he educated them on the dangers of covid-19, tutored them on the implications of violating Govt rules and the need for nose/ mouth masks, as well as the importance of social distancing.
“After he educated that community of boat operators, they immediately detached their engines from the canoes, tied the boats to stakes and closed shops!
“In another scenerio, Ohuruzo was found screaming from the aisle that leads to his office (upstairs) at the command, directing Investigating Police Officers (IPOs) and others to ensure the release of suspects so that they are not detained unnecessarily- that day in his cultural manner, he impressed on them that keeping people unduly was a fashion of infringing on their rights of liberty and movement- he urged them to release them as long as they can present reliable sureties”.
The CIA president who is also the chairman of Rightness Ambassadors, another independent society monitoring group, stressed that Area ‘M’ command is not a market place for indiscriminate activities, a reason which keeps the environment distinct from what obtains in other places, despite the fact that the business of effective policing that ensures safety/ security and law and order goes on unhindered.
CIA realised that sequel to the new order in this command, some men and officers have been found occasionally grumbling and complaining that the Area Commander has suceeded in rendering the place dull and uninteresting. It also discovered that ACP Ifeanyi Ohuruzo is bent on sustaining all strategies, modalities, techniques, rules and principles that will enhance policing of his jurisdiction and bring glory to the Nigeria Police Force, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria; and that challenges or criticisms have become catalysts that push this ‘strange’ commander for greater efficiency and effectiveness!
