S-P-E-C-I-A-L: FESTAC TO ENJOY INFRASTRUCTURAL RENEWAL AS GROUP CONSOLIDATES CALL, WRITE THE PRESIDENT, LAGOS GOVERNOR, OTHERS

A group, Civil Society Network for Urban Regeneration, led by Centre for Leadership and Creative Entrepreneurs in Africa, CELCE- Africa, has heightened the tempo of their call for concerned authorities to wade into the lingering legal impasse between the Federal Housing Authority and the Amuwo Odofin Royal Family.

In a latest stride which has consolidated the group’s support for the developmental moves of the Senator Gbenga Ashafa led Federal Housing Authority, the Network which is a consortium of Civil Society Groups, have written, Their Excellencies, President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Babajide Sanwoolu of Lagos state to quickly intervene in this age long legal tussle which has taken negative tolls on the development of this famous enclave of Lagos originally designed for structural class and distinction, with a view to fostering an atmosphere that will encourage the new renewal works embarked upon by the FHA.

In the group’s previous calls conveyed through several prints, online and electronic media publications, the group had pointed that the ensuing legal feud had left prominent parts of the estate littered with shanties and illicit structures defacing places that should offer beautiful ambience.

While speaking with Timeswatch on this development yesterday in Festac, the Convener of the Network, Amb.Nwanze Enwelim Kingsley who is also the CEO, CELCE-Africa, said that the Civil Society Network for Urban Regeneration is poised to pursue urban regeneration and infrastructural renewal in Nigeria and Africa, stressing that the restoration of the lost glory of Festac Town is crucial and remains a front burner affair.

Nwanze also emphasised the readiness of the group to support the good works of the FHA, led by Senator Gbenga Ashafa, appealing that the concerned authorities need to act fast in the urgency of now.
