The recent clash between the Itire and Ijesha youths, both in surulere,Lagos State, has been tactically handled by the men and officers of the Itire division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO),CSP Adekunle Omisakin, whose prompt response to the disturbing development led to the return of calm to the area.

Reports reaching Timeswatch disclosed that the clash started on Saturday night (30/5/2020) and continued till Monday. But Timeswatch learnt that the proactiveness of the DPO who drafted men to the troubled areas,to prevent any escalation and the possibility of stealing and robbery usually associated with such clashes by hoodlums.

According to our findings,CSP Omisakin did not only stop at dispersing the fighters, but proceeded to convene meetings of Representatives or community stakeholders from the concerned areas for lasting panacea.

Barely one month in office, this tireless DPO who was applying strict supervision and control has shown that he has adequately imbibed the police – community partnerships in crime detection and prevention which remains the desire of the Inspector-General of Police and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police.

Although the main cause of the mayhem which led to injuries and destruction of shops in the areas has yet to be ascertained, but the police have already nipped full scale crisis in the bud through creative policing.
