LASTMA OFFICIAL KILLS SELF AFTER STABBING LOVER

After stabbing his live-in lover who managed to escape with injury, Emmanuel Mekuri, 47 years old official of the Lagos State Transport Management Authority, LASTMA, has stabbed himself to death at the Araromi area of Morogbo, Badagry Expressway, Lagos.

According to a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Lagos State Police Command, SP Bala Elkana, Morogbo division got a distress call from the area that the deceased stabbed his lover, Patricia Ogunsola, 37, who had been co-habiting with him with her 13 years old daughter from another relationship.

The release had it that the deceased had a protracted quarrel over allegations of infidelity leveled against him which resulted into a fight.

According to the 13 years old who witnessed the incident, Mekuri had taken a knife and stabbed Patricia on her lap and made further attempt to stab her on her head which made Patricia bolt for safety before he stabbed himself in the stomach; action which led to his death.

When homicide detectives arrived, they preserved the crime scene and rushed the injured woman to the hospital for medical attention. She is currently in stable condition.
The corpse of the deceased person was evacuated to mortuary for autopsy. A blood stained knife was recovered from the scene.

However, for discreet investigation, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Hakeem Odumosu has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Depertment, Panti, yaba.
