THE attempt by the current executive of the Students Union Govt (SUG); of the Alex Ekueme Federal University, Alike Ndufu, Ikwo, Ebonyi state to achieve a democratic transition on Tuesday proved abortive.

Information gathered by Timeswatch correspondent in Ebonyi, revealed that the SUG, grossly adjudged by majority students to be a weak students’ custodian, were at the venue of the election when students from the Engineering faculty stormed the place with weapons and disrupted electoral proceedings, wounding several students.

Timeswatch learnt that the security personnel of the university were absent when the rampaging budding engineers stormed, disrupted and maimed; situation which made the process inconclusive.

According to further information, the mayhem which sent the university community scampering resulted from the disqualification of an engineering aspirant on ground of indiscipline, since he was said to have affixed his pseudonym (Nick) to his registration form.

Other ugly report from that tertiary enclave is that for over 2 weeks, the students suffered excruciating power outage which had a negative effect on so many things.
These developments, coupled with other pressing challenges, are obvious problems lying in wait for the solving of the Vice Chancellor who only resumed barely one month ago.

Efforts to reach the Dean, students affairs for more confirmation proved abortive.
