Igbo Speaking Community Board of Trustees Chairman, Dr.Nnaji Jonathan, has referred to the allegations made by one Eze Ndigbo, C.C Nwokedi as utter ridiculous thoughts of an ignorant fellow.
Speaking to Timeswatch yesterday while responding to questions via telephone, Dr. Nnaji noted that his reaction was just to educate the misled Eze whom he said he nevertheless has respect for, and loves as an Igbo man.
Clarifying issues succinctly, the vocal BOT leader noted, “I would not have reacted to the baseless allegations from Nwokedi as reported by Newsplanetinternational, an online magazine, because the man talking about me and the BOT is an alien to the regulatory body, but I must educate and advice him.
“Let me tell all stakeholders that the said Eze had come to my office at a time to ascertain issues, and I received him.
“I told him that though his crowning or enthronement happened from a factional leader of the community during a crises, he needs to come for regularisation, since the community is reconciling, so that he presents certain documents and makes his identity very clear for the records.
“This is the procedural demand I made which perhaps rattled and infuriated him.”
According to Dr. Nnaji, the requests which did not contain the deamening demands raised in Nwokedi’s flimsy claims are necessary for ascertaining the personalities, lifestyles and/or identities of each Eze, so that they will not create issues for the community in the long run.
Nnaji however quizzed that even if a man who wants to be monarch over communities is traditionally asked to bring a goat, 250,000 as Nwokedi alleged, should such a man seeking royalty run to the streets crying foul?
Nnaji therefore pointed to the issue of succession in the BOT headship which also reflected in the unwarranted allegation, saying that the constitution of the Igbo Speaking Community exists without ambiguity as to leadership.
“It has no incongruity about who should succeed who.
“The pre requisite is qualification, integrity, and commitment.
Once the Board finds you worthy, the state of the Southeast you hail from is irrelevant, “he pointed.
Dr. Nnaji also debunked Nwokedi’s claim that he succeeded an Enugu man by the name Uche, stressing that his immediate predecessor hailed from Imo state by the name sir Andy Akagha
Advising Eze Nwokedi, Dr. Nnaji urged that he should stop getting embattled and do the regularisation with the board to consolidate his Ezeship.
He equally cautioned against his using the RC number/Igbo Speaking Community name alongside the version of the Council of Ndieze he heads, as it is a duplication of an existing legitimate one, which chairman is Eze Nwalozie.
