Prof.Christopher Imumolen, Accord’s authentic national chairman has berated and lampooned factional elements of the party for conducting illicit, disgraceful and unofficial governorship primary election in Oyo state, describing the action as shameful and embarrassing.
In a swift leadership response , Prof Imumolen who was also the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, pronounced the guber aspirants nullified.
” Neither Oriyomi Hamzat nor Olakunle ‘Gudugudu’ Busari is the valid candidate of Accord Party in Oyo state”, he asserted.
Affirming that party loyalists have always accused the factional structure of Ajala and Maxwell as lacking the legitimacy, discipline and moral standing to manage the affairs of a national party, Prof Imumolen noted that the shameful actions of the duo will not go unchecked.
Part of the press release signed by Muktar Abdallah , Accord’s National Secretary; made available to newsmen today stated, ” The emergence of two different candidates from the same faction is a clear indication of the confusion, greed , money politics , and lack of leadership capacity within the Maxwell – Ajaja led faction of Accord .
It is embarrassing that the illegally imposed National Chairman and National Secretary, driven by personal interests and desperation for financial gains, could not put their house together , thereby exposing the party to public ridicule by producing parallel candidates from the same process”.
Further, the statement emphasized that the authentic leadership of the Accord will conduct a fresh, transparent , credible and unified governorship primary election soon to produce the rightful candidate that will genuinely represent the interests of Accord members and the people of Oyo state, buttressing that Accord Party is committed to internal democracy , justice , and the rule of law, thus will not allow selfish individuals to destroy the image and integrity built by genuine party stakeholders over the years.
