If the Commissioner of Police,Lagos State Police Command,CP Hakeem Odumosu was physically present at a gathering held by the various communities in Lekki-Ajah and Lekki-Epe expressways,he would have moved to tears by the measure of panegyric expressions that poured out from the mouths of grateful Representatives from the community development association (CDA) who converged on Saturday,16th may,to officially welcome the Scorpion Base of the State Anti-Robbery Squad,recently sited at the former Abijo Police Post,inside the Abijo GRA,Lekki-Epe Expressway.
The commander of the unit acting on instruction,had convened a familiarisation meeting to relate with the communities so as to sample their opinions on those security challenges that confronted them before the arrival of the SARS (Scorpion Base) in the area.
This measure was the CP’s strategy to know the security needs of the people in order to tackle them headlong.
Representatives from various communities were at this gathering organised with total compliance to the social distancing laws of govt. And right there,the various communities’ heads tendered unreserved gratitude,made suggestions and reached resolutions on how to best partner with the Lagos Command to chase armed robbers and other criminals outside Ajah.
From the submissions of the participants,it was the first time that a strategic meeting would impact and re-position the security architecture of Ajah will be held in history.
Timeswatch sampling views at the venue also learnt from the residents that Abijo GRA that used to house gun runners or dealers has become a safe,sane and social abode due to the fact that the CP’s boys have already chased the nocturnal cum daylight robbers and criminals outside the towns.
Making a call,the communities appealed to CP Odumosu and his gallant and dependable ‘tool’, the O/C SARS,Lagos Command,CSP Oni Kehinde Johnson who had a meritorious outing at the Anti-Kidnapping Unit while he held sway as the 2i/c,to further unleash assault on the criminals until they ran to the neighbouring states,never to return.
The Commander of the base who assured the participants that the CP’s community/police partnership modus operandi are next to non,and that they will yield astounding dividends to restore safety and security adequately,not only in Ajah,but also in other areas; emphasised that with total cooperation in terms of intelligence,logistics and lawful conducts,the Lagos SARS will leave no stone unturned in combating the robbers and creating an atmosphere where residents can heave a sigh of relief and sleep sound.
He promised to take back all the resolutions reached to the O/C SARS,Lagos,who will get the best directives from the CP for effective collaboration and implementation,especially as the communities representatives formed communities that will see to the enhancement of the Scorpion Base work environment for the sake of operational efficiency.
The extensive meeting which ended on a peaceful and progressive mood made the commander to tutor the people on the need to be security conscious and socially vigilant. He also also urged them to invest heavily in training up their children in godly and lawful ways to achieve a healthy society.
