The crisis rocking the Accord party is far from being resolved.
This is because at a press briefing held recently in Abuja, the federal capital territory, by Professor Christopher Imumolen, 2023 presidential candidate of the party, Nigerians and indeed the world were urged not to see political situations or developments in Osun state as affecting the leadership of the party.
Imumolen who recently dropped his 2027 presidential ambition to form a support coalition for president Tinubu’s re election remarked that the Accord imbroglio dates back to 2024 , and that it revolves around issues of party funds management while he was the party’s presidential flag bearer, stressing that the lingering faceoff has been undergoing legal proceedings at the High Court of the FCT.
” Let it be known that the Accord party is a national party which affairs cannot be seen from the angle of a single state affairs.
” The crisis was there before governor Adeleke’s entry into the party.
” It also not about the recent Osun election.
” Accord’s leadership crisis awaits the determination of the Court, and we are ready to pursue our case to a logical conclusion”, Prof Imumolen pointed.
Further, he noted that though he was contacted when governor Adeleke was joining the party , no meaningful truce was reached between him and the faction which governor Adeleke eventually aligned with rather than pursuing panacea to the lingering faceoff.
