20th August was not a usual day in the land of Oki, Iyana Ipaja, Alimosho, Lagos state.
Just like other parts of Nigeria , the kingdom observed and celebrated the Isese Day ( Day of Traditions ) .
This day traditional worshippers and custodians of traditional worship beliefs performed spiritual rites, prayed and reverenced the gods believed to be carriers of messages or supplications to the Olodumare( the Almighty ), in conformity with the ways of our ancestors.
That day, Oki Kingdom awoke to various rites such as visit to the stream for certain rites and prayers, to traditional or cultural masquerade displays later in the day, coupled with festivities across Oki land in Iyana Ipaja, Alimosho, Lagos.
The palace of the Paramount ruler, Chief custodian of tradition, High Chief Badeyemo Aremu Oki (Baale of Oki kingdom) wore a festive appearance that day as community people, visitors and media men thronged in the spirit of the day.
Fielding questions from Timeswatch correspondent, Baale Oki expressed happiness and thanked Olodumare for making Oki land an abode of peace and prosperity.
According to him, the kingdom is fast developing and attractive to people of all nations and nativities.
In his words,
” Our land is a home for all lovers of peace, progress and development”.

On whether traditional worshippers collude with people of other faiths, His Highness the Oki alerted that there is peaceful coexistence between all worshippers , and all.people.
Agboola Adebola Saheed, an Oki indigene who was at the palace for the celebration, said he had been in Oki kingdom since 1978.
He described the Baale as a king who brought so much innovations into the land since he ascended the throne of his ancestors.
