It will be a statement of fact to say that the Commissioner of Police, Lagos state, Fayoade Adegoke took a wise step by diffusing his Tactical Team strategically.
This is because that clairvoyance resulted to a huge security panacea which aborted the plots of violent criminals and truncated their moves to do brisk business in Lagos.
CP Fayoade’s brilliant stride is not just a major triumph for the citizens in Lagos, but also a clear manifestation of the determination of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun to decimate felonious criminals that hitherto rocked the peace of the nation.
To substantiate that CP Lagos prudently applied his professional magic wand through the instrumentality of the Tactical Team, one of his proactive subordinates, who is a loyal operational talisman, Aduroja Akinola Olurotimi, a Superintendent of Police (commander in charge of Ijegun), on Saturday 25th May,
took a strategic step of taking orientation against crime to a popular football field of a community.
Aduroja had liaised with a selected community development stakeholders through the Eastern Brothers Recreational Football Team, to harvest men, youths and children for his mission.
It was indeed astonishing how he had to physically play football, entertain, kneel and prayed with the children, before finally assembling them for the crime – unfriendly education and / or sensitisation.
With the simplest communication, Aduroja appreciated the gathering which included people of various tribes in Nigeria and took them on issues of crime and how they can be detected, arrested or even prevented.
He hinted vigorously that the police is the friendliest law enforcement body that also needs the supports of the people of the communities being secured.
The strategic meeting which lasted hours continued despite intermittent showers and the precarious weather.
His teaching did not only dwell on crime and how they could be combated, it equally assured the people that one of the greatest Mantras of the Nigeria Police is ” See Something – Say Something”, an aspect of his “sermon” he used to assure the community of total safety when the step to report suspicious people, places and situations.
The ovation that followed his classical speech was a sheer confirmation of the appreciation and joy of a people who unarguably saw a show of love, display of intelligence, character, by a police officer they thought could not be accessed!
68 years old landlord who simply identified himself as Baba Alimi, said;
“I am so happy that the police unit has brought peace and joy to our area.
“We have never had it so good in Ijegun and its environs. I thank the govt for bringing this man and his boys to over power the powerful boys who were disturbing and terrorising people.”
In similar vein, Sikiru Adeola (Asiwaju), one time Press Secretary in Alimosho Local Government and CEO, Reachout Communications who witnessed the situation, hailed the police and confessed that light has entered the area with the advent of the CP Tactical Team.
Careful, yet unassuming SP Aduroja seems to be displaying uncommon gallantry as a simple way of continually pledging his unwavering loyalty to the CP, and expressing unalloyed gratitude to the Police Authorities for giving him the platform to serve uniquely!
SP Aduroja had exemplified uniqueness through the cadres and various postings according to independent observers; and with this surprising feat, he had presented himself as an apostle of community policing, such so filled with civil methodologies, even in his raw gallantry!
