As a measure to curb the menace of crime and criminality in their community, prominent development stakeholders of Odan Abuja Sule town in Ado Odo Ota Local Govt Area of Ogun state, yesterday officially dedicated a fully built and equipped police facility to the Nigeria Police.
The security stride which was initiated and funded by the community was necessitated by the incessant operations of criminal elements who commit robbery and other forms of crime, Timeswatch gathered.
According to Hon.Chief Arimi Agoro Sunmola who played a commendable major role towards the funding and actualisation of the security project, the trauma of heinous crimes in the area became unbearable, hence the leaders moved to end it.
“As the rampaging criminals expanded activities to the point of robbing people on land, even on our water ways linking the community to Lagos state, we concluded to construct and equip a police facility to save residents and indigenes alike, from nefarious deeds of bad elements.
“Sometime ago, there was a situation when a clash between gunmen led to a shootout on the water ways.
” There had been times Also when people who were returning from legitimate businesses were waylaid and robbed.
“So we the concerned community leaders vowed to subdue them, and our decision gave birth to this security development”, he stressed.
Emphasing that the criminals even recently vandalised the only community- built secondary school and stole the pumping machine installed for the police post, he extended appreciation to the monarch of the community, His Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Tesilimi Ayinla Nosiru who threw his support for the great development.
He proceeded to thank all the people who contributed in every way to the success of the building and commissioning, lauding the Ogun state police command, especially the immediate past commissioner of police, for hearkening to the community’s clarion call.
