The local government administration is evolving into what will become the catalyst for rural development and the solution for massive rural urban migration.
This is largely due to the calculated efforts of certain stakeholders in the third tier who are poised to make a difference.
However, it is pertinent to note that certain political leadership icons are proving to possess the wherewithal to drive the imminent change, through character and Productivity.
One of such trailblazers currently setting enviable records is Comrade Akinsanya Ayinde Lasisi, the incumbent council Mayor of Igando/Ikotun Local Council Development Area, Alimosho, Lagos state.
From all indications, he is ensuring maximal development and prudential management of scarce resources, through strategic allocation of projects to meet critical needs.
“Papa” as many call him is indeed a square peg in the square hole as far as the leadership of the local council is concerned.
Apart from his background as one time Lagos President of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Comrade Akinsanya is a grounded grassroots person with attractive personality laced with distinctive character – same idiosyncrasy he brought into leadership as Executive Chairman.
Comrade Akinsanya’s human faced administration has tactically touched all facets of the economy of his jurisdiction, paying special attention to critical areas such as health, education, empowerment, roads and drainages to ameliorate plights and improve socio economic standards.
In fact, one of the first things he did was to transform the health centres of the council into one outfit that benefits even people from other local councils such as Egbe/ Idimu, Iba LCDA.
Akinsanya’s govt practically rebuilt and standardized the health facility after it was torched by the EndSars protesters.
His open door policy and charitable attributes allow constituents to seek him officially and unofficially, a proof of why his office and private residence have become beehives of communal / leadership activities.
Comrade rich scorecard which this article cannot contain include the latest palliative road project allocated to the people of Agric road community in the Egan/ Igando area of the LCDA.
This project like many others, are designed to provide solace to the people who yearned for help.
The palliative road will end the difficulty faced by road users in that area due to some deplorable aspects.
Who will gainsay that Akinsanya’s Midas touch has had tremendous impacts across the socio economic facets of the LCDA.
His goodwill has also attracted good from the state and private individuals, so much so that there is a loud clamour for his continuation in office beyond 2025.
Against this background, good leadership and development advocates in the area, even well meaning residents have insisted that Akinsanya should persist since a good turn deserves another.
In his typicality, Akinsanya is unperturbed by these shades of public demand, what concerns him most is how he can beat his present record to bequeath a sterling legacy to the next generation.
Independent sampling of a cross section of the constituents reveal this penchant for the continuity of his courageous and reparative developmental administration, especially now that the local governments may begin to shoulder more responsibilities in nation building!
