A special palliatives train of the Nigeria Police Chaplaincy Service, Lagos State Command, Igando Unit toured various checkpoints manned by policemen , even personnel of sister agencies to motivate them with token gifts.
The movement which took place on Wednesday, 24th June, led by the O/C command of the unit, Chaplain ( Dr.) J.O. Fabunmi , saw the train comprised of chaplains, serving and retired police officers stop at checkpoints , where token gift items that included edibles were shared to men and officers on duty.
At the various points, Chaplain Fabunmi delivered brief speeches of appreciation and inspiration that served as pats on the backs of the officers.
He also rendered prayers for safety and good health.
The palliatives spree moved from Igando bus stop to various points along the Lasu Isheri expressway, before it touched numerous others along the Lagos – Badagry expressway, till it reversed at Agbara checkpoint which was a potpourri of diverse officers of different agencies.
Speaking about the occasion, obviously elated Fabunmi stated that the charitable gesture was conceived by the Igando unit to make the 20th anniversary of the Chaplaincy Service of the Nigeria Police ( Lagos command headquarters) unique; stressing that the Igando unit is peculiar and looks beyond the police for its unique supports aimed at boosting the morales of the various law enforcement agencies working to keep Nigeria safe and orderly.
On whether the gesture will continue, Fabunmi emphasised that though it was first of its kind, the suggestion for continuity would be conveyed to the executives at the command headquarters for consideration.
He also urged well meaning Nigerians and organisations to back up or emulate the gesture, buttressing the significance of strategic motivation to security agents and other law enforcement officials who confront violent and non violent criminals of the society daily.
” Though the gifts might be a token, they speak volumes of how loved and appreciated they are”, Fabunmi averred.
