An elder member of the Odubotes, a Lagos family, Southwest Nigeria, Pa Adeshina Michael Odubote has raised the alarm over continued threats by different unknown thugs loyal to the All Progressives Congress, APC, who are after him and his son, Odubote Bamidele Timilehin.
According to the elderly man who spoke to Timeswatch via telephone from his Ghana Base, the ugly saga began on Oct. 22, 2022, in Ikeja Local Government Area of Lagos.
Pa Odubote who was a strong member of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) narrated how him and his son, Timilehin, who served as his Personal Assistant, were attacked on their way from a crucial meeting that fateful day.
“It was at the peak of electioneering campaign for the 2023 general election , when supporters of the APC were bent on imposing their candidate on the electorate.
“The attack was vicious to the point that one of the thugs fired his locally made pistol at my leg, an action they later referred to as mere warning.
“The rascals numbering over 15 made to bundle my son and I away when a team of Anti Crime Police men on patrol appeared and got them running.
” They later wrote a letter warning that they will come to torch my building with everybody inside”, he stressed.
Elaborating further, Pa Odubote said that the dreadful circumstances caused the relocation of his entire family to another vicinity from where he frenziedly perfected the process of leaving for Ghana, after the family had ensured the departure of Timilehin from Nigeria, with the aid of a Brazilian Visa.
He pointed that this clarion call to the public became necessary when information reached him from Nigeria, that only recently, some strange faces confronted some extended family members in Lagos, and boasted that
they have tentacles strong enough to track and hack anyone down, anywhere in the world, and that they will ensure that they inflict fatal injury on him and his son, any time soon.
When Timeswatch asked him the present whereabouts of Bamidele Timilehin Odubote, he simply noted that his son had been rendered a fugitive since 2022, refusing to specify a particular location, perhaps for the fear that his assailants may just build on that.
He also noted that the immediate and extended Odubote family are praying for Timilehin, condemning the dangerous political culture in Nigeria, which he said continues to create fear in good people who truly desire political participation.
He ended saying that the penchant to perpetuate their political party in positions of political authority makes the APC followers become recklessly destructive.
