Hon. Bukola Soaga Bada has become the President, Maryland Royal Lions Club, District 404b2 Nigeria, after a well attended induction ceremony held in Lagos on Saturday.
At the glamorous event held at the expansive multipurpose hall of Igando/Ikotun Local Council Development Area, Lions from all walks of life gathered in solidarity for this all – important ceremony.

Lion Bukola, a Deaconess and Special Adviser to the LGA on Civic Engagement and Tourism used the moment to share her Lionism experience, gender struggle and honour select women who in one way or the other contributed to her rising and mentored her.
Some of the honorands are Hon.Princess Adebisi Adebajo, Executive Chairman, Mosan Okunola LCDA, Lagos, Hon. Mrs. Saidat Okayinka Oladunjoye, Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission, Lagos state, Dr. Abiola Akiode, Founder, Women Research Documentation Centre, Wardc.
According to her, the joy of fulfilling a purpose is unquantifiable and the presentation that results from merit is glorious.
In her words, ” I became a lion in furtherance of my obligations and duties of service to humanity.
“If you understand your purpose, you pursue it in order to achieve.
“I have been in the business of serving humanity in various capacity, so Lionism is just a step higher.
“My valedictory speech resonated well, identifying that as a woman, I can do what a man does and excel at it. This is why I awarded women of note doing great things in all fields of human endeavour, be it politics, humanity, civic society, law etc.

Describing the Lions Club, she pointed that it is an old club with focus on core services to humanity such as in diabetic care, childhood cancer, vision, youth and women empowerment, feeding the hungry and environmental care.
” I intend to leave a legacy project by providing water in a community needing it which have been assessed, as well construct a 24 – hour diabetic centre in Alimosho once I get the necessary permission to do so”, Soaga promised.

On the corruption saga rocking certain women in political positions, she expressed concern, stressing that any woman given opportunity should realise that she represents women, not herself.
“Women in positions should think deep on their actions and inactions, because it cost some of us critically pushing the gender agenda so much to achieve this minimal success which must not be jeopardized”, she ended.
