In yet another dazzling investigative stride towards the fulfilment of its mandate, Force CID Annex, Alagbon Ikoyi, Lagos has arrested the son of Mr. Ibu, popular Nigerian actor , for fraudulently taking 55 million naira saved in Ibu’s health fund raising scheme account.
The suspect, Onyeabuchi Daniel Okafor and his accomplice, Jasmine Chioma Okekeagwu were arrested following a petition from a law firm, Diamond Waves Law on behalf of Ibu’s(John Okafor) wife, Stella Maris Chinyere Okafor.
When the detectives from the FCID treated the petition and swung into action ,they unearthed that the suspects allegedly hacked into the account meant for Ibu’s health bills and diverted the funds into Onyeabuchi’s private account.
According to their investigation, the suspects arm-twisted Stella Maris who was hitherto funding Ibu’s treatment and managing the family, took her husband’s phone before manipulating the fund raising account and transferred the sum of 55 million naira in it to accomplish their scam.
Further discovery revealed that the duo had already squandered 5 out of the entire sum, thus the detectives recovered 50M naira, from the suspects who had already had a sham wedding preparatory for their escape to the United Kingdom.
On the strength of evidence suspects have been arrested and charged to the Chief Magistrate Court 1, Yaba in Charge No. A/06/2024 for conspiracy and stealing, and however were granted bail in the sum of =N=15m with two sureties in like sum.
While case was adjourned to 11th March, casefile has been forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
