Commander, Area ‘M’ Command, Lagos State Police Command, Ajeigbe Olayinka at the weekend, gave a quit notice to criminal elements in the area, if they are unwilling to turn a new leaf.

Ajeigbe, an Assistant Commissioner of Police made this declaration at the end of a crucial stakeholders meeting held inside the expansive Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC hall.
During the meeting which was attended by security and development stakeholders, such as Landlords, traditional heads, CDC/CDA executives, business owners, police officers, etc, the commander disclosed crime areas, tactics of criminals and possible proactive measures that could help.
He proceeded to caution against acts that encourage or shield criminals in areas, urging members of communities to swiftly report suspicious people and moves.

Major points he highlighted as aids to crime were drugs abuse or intake, cultism and reckless economic behaviour or orientation.
Specifically, Ajeigbe warned hotel owners, landlords to refuse dangerous elements from agglomerating in their facilities, warning that his leadership will not spare such landlords or operators of hotels during crime bursting activities.
Further, the commander educated on CCTV cameras installation as one of the necessities in crime prevention and detection.
The meeting which was interactive lasted hours as questions, suggestions, complaints followed the commander’s extensive speech.

Explaining the purpose of the meeting to Timeswatch, Ajeigbe noted, ” In view of the directives of the Inspector General of Police, Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos state, Fayoade Adegoke instructed that periodic interface with the communities be held by Area Commanders, DPOs.
“At these meetings, we share ideas and encourage members of the public to always ‘say something, when they see something’
“Effectiveness is guaranteed through better synergy in towing this path.
“This is why I must advice the youths and others to keep away from crime, and avoid habits or practices that could lure them, because with the level of synergy on ground, my men will come after all criminals, and I will ensure they face the full wrath of the law”, he emphasised.
Ending, ACP Ajeigbe hailed the PCRC for their immense supports to the task of policing and Saluted the Commissioner of Police for all the rapid response accorded all commands during serious distress, a strategy he said has kept Lagos enviably different from other parts of the country.
