Operatives of the Ikotun divisional head quarters, Area M command have prevented a sanguinary clash that would have ensued between some soldiers and urchins.

Timeswatch gathered that at the weekend, the police stormed the agboole axis of the densely populated area to disperse hoodlums and make arrests in response to intelligence.

According to eye witnesses accounts, some soldiers were in that axis saturated with street urchins when the cellphone of one of them was allegedly stolen by hoodlums, and action that sparked fighting.

It was learnt that the soldiers and the urchins resorted to using dangerous weapons, situation that created tension.

A particular eye witness affirmed that people scampered for safety until the arrival of the police team that brought the situation under control by chasing the waring factions and arresting a few.

Our reporter could not reach the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Adolph Ogwu before filing this report!

Ikotun has experienced relative order and peace in recent times due to constant patrols of the police.
