At a massively attended mini security summit held on Wednesday, at the Area ‘M’ police headquarters in Idimu, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos state, Fayoade Adegoke urged citizens in the state to tow the path of peace and shun calls from unknown quarters to embark on protest.

Amongst other admonitions, the Commissioner of Police who enthusiastically addressed the gathering of traditional rulers, industry leaders, Community Development Associations and Community Development Committees executives, youth leaders, security/ paramilitary heads, religious heads, market leaders and sundry stakeholders, highlighted the enormous advantage of peace over chaos and destruction.

Strongly emphasizing the need for a collective maintenance of the peaceful atmosphere of Lagos that stands her out as a place for safe coexistence, tranquil business transactions, progress and prosperity, he enumerated the gains that avoiding catastrophe can bring in a nation.

As a major appeal, the CP who arrived the Senatorial Area meeting from another one in Badagry asked Nigerians to kindly wait for govt to yield to the demands already itemized, stating that the hardship is real and regrettable.

“Lagos is safe and we should continue to make it safer.

“We are not perfect as managers of affairs, but will continue to make the state safer and improve in providing quality security services to all Lagosians.

“I beg you to talk to your children and all the members of your communities to bear with the present government , rather than involve in protest that will be destructive.

“The present regrettable economic hardship is palpable , but the govt has promised to tackle it and fix Nigeria.

“Protest will not bring good infrastructure to the citizens, but will rather cause loss of valuable infrastructure.

“Let the planned protest be shelved as a way of giving govt more time to attend to the known pressing needs or demands.

“Let there be no protest or violence in Lagos”, Fayoade appealed.

Preparatory to the august occasion, the Area Commander, Area ‘M’, ACP Olayinka Ajeigbe had strategically sent invitations to the creme de la creme of the vast senatorial district, ensuring no stone is left untouched.

All the Divisional Police Officers and other significant personnel were present at the meeting that lasted hours and treated pressing issues of great interest.

The Lagos state police headquarters under the control of CP Adegoke Fayoade, has always leveraged strategic synergy, intelligence, rapid response, interactiveness, community relations, to keep criminals at bay and maintain peace in the state.
