The Association of United Lagos State Indigenes have decried the continuous sidelining of Indigenes in the core political affairs of the state.

At a forum of the association held on Saturday inside Ijegun Town Hall, Alimosho, Lagos, the displeasure of the indigenous people of Lagos concerning the matter was read when the president of the group presented his speech.
According to the speech, Lagos Indigenes are unhappy that their state has remained in the grip of outsiders who decide the fate of the people un patriotically.
“We are not happy that since 1999, from Gov.Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to Fashola, to Ambode, and then Sanwoolu, no indigene had held sway as governor.
“Though some of us have had juicy positions, they cannot be compared to holding the apex position.
“Lagos Indigenes are no longer comfortable with the spate of political oppression, suppression, intimidation and victimisation, which can be seen through the socio economic perspective.
“There are sons and daughters of the land, well meaning, educated enough to handle governance at the highest level.
“Henceforth, all hands of our people at home and in the diaspora must be on deck to arrest the ugly situation”, parts of the speech by Rtd.Staff Sergeant Idowu Nawairudeen (President of the association) read.

The well attended meeting also had the presence of prominent members such as, High Chief Mustapha Abdulkabiru, Olori Oluwo confederation; Mrs.Ipadeola Risikat Seriki etc.
An Indigene who was there, in reacting to questions from pressmen who asked asked for his views said,
“This move is good towards repossessing our political rights.
” It is just unfortunate that some of our royal fathers have dined too much with their oppressors.
“I am optimistic that this great association will spark the consciousness that will take back our land from political usurpers”.

The president of the association used the moment to salute President Tinubu and wish him excellence in office.
