The Council boss of Igando/Ikotun Local Council Development Area, Hon. Comrade Akinsanya Lasisi Ayinde has condemned the killing of two Northerners in Isuti/Egan area of the council following the death of a certain person.
“The act is barbaric and condemnable “, Akinsanya vexed.

Igando/ Ikotun LCDA had sustained a record of harmonious coexistence between the various tribes that live and do business there for decades.

In a similar vein, Sarkin Hausawa of Igando/Egan, Alh. Abubarka Muhammed, berated the perpetrators of the killing that occured few days ago; emphasising that the law must come down heavily on them.
According to the community head, the matter that warranted the killing of his people is not clear, and has yet to be truly established.

Abubarka said that on the fateful day, unconfirmed reports circulated that an Hausa man stabbed a Yoruba man during a fight, and the later died before reaching the Alimosho General Hospital.
In his words, ” the only video record brought as an evidence only contained grass, ground and voices, without anything revealing the face of the stabber, even the stabbing or fight.
He said there is no identity thus far that connected his people to the leathal action, and that there is no justification for the youths to go after two innocent Hausa men taking two cows to a buyer along Ikotun, and killed them, even after chasing Hausa traders, destroying and stealing their wares around Isuti junction.

Timeswatch gathered that the irate Yoruba youths, sequel to the fight and alleged killing that ensued around a certain Santa Maria street, off Isuti Rd; went after the cattle rearers who brought their cattle through the popular Odo River, and who moved peacefully through Isuti Rd towards Igando/ Ikotun road, seized them, together with the cows, brought them back to Isuti, before allegedly killing both of them gruesomely.
It was equally gathered that the police waded in promptly, made arrests, to forestall likely spread of violence.

The matter is presently at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba where investigation is being intensified.
