Against the background of his recent unsupportive declarations about the planned operation-light-up-Ndokwa peaceful protest on Arise TV, group, United Ndokwa for Growth and Development Association, UNFGADA, have urged the Deputy governor of Delta state, His Excellency, Monday Onyeme, to unconditionally apologise to Ndokwa people or prepare for rejection in 2027.

In a press statement signed by its Chairman, Kunili Friday Shola, the group condemned how the deputy governor downplayed about 16 years of darkness in Ndokwa while presenting himself as savior.

They also challenged the number 2 Delta citizen to publish report on govt investigation on the abandoned 2nd Phase Okpai IPP project which had allegedly gulped $38.7 million, a project they said was supposed to supply Ndokwa power efficiently,

If Okpai IPP is stepped down, the group stated that it would supply the host communities, such as in Omotosho (Ondo), Afam (Rivers) and Egbin (Lagos).

The group’s statement further conveyed that the former Deputy Speaker of Delta state House of Assembly, Friday Osanebi had endorsed the peaceful protest as ‘a justified call for equity and dignity’.

Opposing the remarks of the deputy governor, UNFGADA reiterated that the proposed protest is a constitutional demand for electricity which remains a right, and never a privilege – that it is not a march against the govt of Delta state, stressing that distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko once asserted that host communities to oil firms should have power supply for free.

Timeswatch correspondent however toured most affected communities to find that the preparedness for the protest has grown since the Deputy Governor’s Arise TV appearance; indicating that UNFGADA is a credible voice, sharply debunking the claim of a govt agent, Lucky Ossai, that Chairman of the group , Kunili Friday Shola was earlier bribed during the build up to this face off, situation which from reports, would have been avoided, if govt responded to the official correspondence sent to it on the ugly trend by UNFGADA, earlier.
