The presidential debate held at the just concluded annual conference of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN may have come and gone , but it did not go without creating an interesting aftermath.
The conference cum debate was well attended especially with the presence of Prof Christopher Imumolen of Accord Party (A), that of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), Okowa Ifeanyi; the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, etc; all who gave synopsis of their manifestos as gladiators vying for the Presidency of the federal republic of Nigeria.
Nobody who followed the proceedings of that day will argue that the two most attractive participants that day were Prof Christopher Imumolen and Ifeanyi Okowa, because of their impeccable and passion driven speeches that revealed great leadership and policy frame works.
Peter Obi also struggled to deliver some points which were to later receive a sound critical objection of astute Pride of the youths (Imumolen) who sharply disagreed with his mono policy suggestion that gave omnibus priority to agriculture as the route to a productive (production) economy.
As the beautiful bride of the conference, Imumolen reeled human capacity and capital building, focus on foreign direct investment and amicable policies, technology, power and security as modules for the seriously sought new Nigeria.
And the attendant ovations and accolades from a greatly fascinated crowd showed the direction Nigerian professionals will rather go and coax Nigerians to follow in the good of the nation.
Though Imumolen in his characteristic refinement and culture referred to Mr. Peter Obi as his friend, he unequivocally behaved in a manner that proved that any person or force who wishes Nigeria anything other than excellence from 2023 is his foe and a fiend to fear.
Despite all other submissions at that crucial conference, Professor Imumolen’s body language manifestly reveals a vibrant youth who is poised to confront, combat and defeat the winds and wings against the soul of Nigeria, and his resolve is amazingly embellished with a touch of deep seated patriotism uncommon in young people.
It must be stated categorically that having seen that display of spirit, form and class, it is worthy of uncensored testimony that Professor Imumolen is the icon of the youth being prepared for this day when it is indeed Youth O’ Clock in Nigeria’s leadership setting.
He represents the link between Nigerians and the collective prosperity ever awaited.
The alluring phenomenon about this phenomenal vastly educated and globally connected 39- year old possessor of 2 PhDs and multiple Masters degrees is his enviable pedigree as Africa’s leading funder of scholarship based education which has elevated over 500,000 Nigerians to various pedestals of honour and relevance.
Suffice it to say that in the coming weeks, an organic agglomeration of Nigerians will happen in favour of PCI as this prof of distinction is called by his teeming enthusiasts, and just then, the most shocking thing to ever happen in the democratic adventure of Nigeria may just be in the offing.
