As a measure to cushion the effect of the current economic difficulties rocking the people, council helmsman of Igando / Ikotun Local Council Development Area, Comrade Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya has given cash support.
The council boss took this action today at the LCDA secretariat at a well organized gathering which comprised people of diverse nationalities, most of who are indigents.

Beneficiaries from different religion facets and parts of the council areas reflected the strategic insistence of the administration to ensure equitable disbursement of relief items and cash since inception of the exercise.
While handing the envelopes containing various sums to the recipients, Akinsanya advised them to learn more prudence in the midst of the economic quagmire he described as a passing phase and a painful measure programmed to bring long term prosperity.

Speaking to Timeswatch reporter and other newsmen who monitored the process, he pointed that his administration will continue to do its best within available resources to mitigate suffering of very challenged members of the town.
When asked why certain envelopes were not released, he pointed that the council has a policy of not giving what belongs to a particular person to a representative.
He stressed that his govt will rather wait for the real owners to come to claim them.

One of the recipients who was accosted by journalists who refused to give his name, said that he never believed that the exercise is real until he got his today.
He prayed for the council leaders for taking time to reach the real needy with support.

Independent research revealed that the process to selecting beneficiaries involved community leaders and residents who unanimously picked the less privileged from among them.
