The Controller in Charge of the Nigerian Correctional Service (female) facility, Kirikiri, Lagos, Deputy Comptroller of Corrections, DCC Lizzie Ekpendu Orgugua, joined other top security agents of Nigeria yesterday, at the first ever security pageant in Nigeria.
Ekpendu, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos state, Hakeem Odumosu, the LGA boss of Coker/Aguda, Surulere, and others, were awarded the MSN Hall of Fame, for unique contributions in their spheres of duty.
The event which held at the NUT Pavilion, Alausa, Ikeja was preceded by the pageant keenly contested by all the security agencies, and eventually won by Miss NSCDC.
According to the organisers, the occasion was designed to promote competitive leadership for a safer and saner Nigeria, and Miss NSCDC, having emerged, has a responsibility to take security awareness across divides.
DCC Ekpendu who was spotted by Trek Africa (organisers) for visiting love- induced Midas touch upon the female centre of NCS, Kirikiri, Lagos, since 2015, in reaction, described the event as apt for Nigeria and healthy this crucial time.
When Timeswatch asked how she was able to inject comforting innovations to the female centre, she said, ” I did no magic.
As a christian I simply invested love to make the place erupt with love.
“I simply played that little Jesus, and the outcome of love is visible in the lives of those in custody- they have been adopted with love as my daughters.
And work is ongoing to the glory of God”.
Earlier at the programme, Ekpendu took the microphone and educated the gathering never to neglect the mortuaries, Correction facilities and hospitals, describing them as places life may take anyone, anytime.
She also dedicated her award to her “daughters”, supporters, and the ever diligent officers at the corrections, who work obediently daily, to achieve good, stressing that the awards serve as tonics for greater productivity.
