The just concluded Igbo culture day celebration in Alimosho was unique,as the Oba Aala worldwide, His Spiritual Majesty, Barry Olorumfemi Abejide Orishadahun, led other Yoruba monarchs to the historical event.
Orishadahun who is also the Aworo Olomuooke Agbon of Omuooke Ekiti, Ekiti state, was seen at the event exchanging salutations and pleasantries with his Igbo counterparts on the high table.
Other Yoruba leaders at the event were the monarchs of Ikotun and Ijegun (ably represented).
Igbo diaspora monarchs at occasion included, His Highness Amb.Dr.Ephraim Nnaemeka, Eze Ndigbo of Aboru land, Agbado Oke Odo LCDA, H.H.Eze Lawrence Nnamdi Eze of Alimosho, Eze Ndigbo Whitesand area, Eze Ijagemo, etc.
Orishadahun in talking about the event, described it as an essential program that promotes cultural advancement, integration and unity of ethnic groups.
He also hailed the organisers for the invitation extended to him and his people and promised to extend greater hands of fellowship in the interest of all traditionalists, and indeed, the Yoruba race.
Activities that marked the day include, masquerade performances, cultural dances, cultural troupe/instruments unveiling/ launch, and awards presentation.
Chief Bennett Chukwuemeka Obi, chairman, organising committee of the cultural fiesta, in talking about the event, said that a lot of logistics went into the event to get this outcome, stressing that it can only get better.
Chief Bennett also thanked all the invited guests, ezes and members of the committee for making the event wonderful, pointing that it awakened cultural consciousness of younger Igbos.
