At the end of the Defining Session of Nigeria’s Mothers Rights Initiative held at Leawood Hotels Luxury Hotel, Lekki, Lagos, on Friday, Mother of the Nation and Women Rights Advocate, Bishop Priscilla Onyemechi Otuya, has called for better empowerment schemes and a safer society for women.

With the theme, “Empowering Nigerian Mothers – Advocating for Consumer Rights and Ensuring Value for Every Kobo”, the event came on the auspices of Mothers of the Nation, MON in partnership with International Federation of Female Ministers and Groups!; African Female Presidents & CEOs, etc.

The august occasion also enjoyed support from Money wise Community Club and Ecclesia Health & Safety Club.

Addressing newsmen from LTV, TVC and Timeswatch News Magazine, Bishop Otuya stressed the need for women with prowess and opportunities to align towards opening great Empowerment vistas for women.

She noted that with great opportunities in the various fields and realms of policy formulation/leadership , women would rise to the occasion and support their male counterparts in building a greater and livable Nigeria.

In her words, ” It is important for stakeholders to know that the underlying intent of the entire advocacy is not for rivalry, but for meaningful contributions that could rapidly change the current unpleasant narrative.

“This initiative is also a vanguard that seeks social sanity, safety and peace, especially as turmoil and conflicts take devastating tolls on women and children”.

Otuya equally pointed that the need for govt partnership can never be over emphasised.

Nene Kalu – Mmaju one of the lead speakers at the event, added her voice stressing that the era when people celebrate cosmetic empowerments are gone.

” We clamour strongly for empowerments that build skills, capacity, enhance potentials that last and last, towards making that woman that is socially independent, creative, productive and extremely responsible”, Nene emphasised.

Other participants such as Omonye Okobia, Dr. Chinwe Wonders, Dr. Dumebi Nwosu, Henrietta Chima and more lit that grandeur stage.
