As one of the revered elder leadership stakeholders of the federal republic of Nigeria who is concerned by the current shape of Nigeria’s democracy, General Abdulsalam Abubakar (rtd), former military Head of State has declared his desire for a national leadership of young Nigerians.
This declaration was made during the recent visit of Prof Christopher Imumolen, the youth Presidential Standard bearer of Accord, one of
the strong political parties in Nigeria to his Minna, Niger state home.

Imumolen had gone to officially disclose his 2023 presidential ambition to the man who paved the way for the return of democracy to Nigeria in 1999, and to get motivation/blessing for the race.
And as part of his response, Abdulsalam emphasised the need for Nigeria to begin to run under the control of young leaders who will redefine Nigeria’s democracy and take her to limelight.
He pointed that old leaders should leave mainstream political and leadership affairs for youths while staying in the background to encourage, support and motivate.

Timeswatch learnt that Professor Imumolen’s visit was at the heels of an earlier visit of General Olusegun Obasanjo when it was gathered that issues of how Nigeria can get leadership right took the front burner at the rendezvous of the retired generals.

This visit is one of the very crucial moves being made by Professor Imumolen towards actualising his presidential bid.
