Ahead of the 2023 presidential election, the traditional custodian of the Arewa people in Igando/ Egan area of Igando/ Ikotun Local Council Development Area, Alimosho, Lagos state, Alh. Abubakar Mohammed, has cautioned all Nigerians against approaching next year’s presidential election with tribe and religion mentality.
Sarkin Abubarkar gave this warning while entertaining questions from Timeswatch penultimate week in Igando.
He said that the best choice for presidency come 2023 is that Nigerian who is detribalised and filled with the spirit of service to the citizens, stating that presently, ordinary citizens are being enslaved by the insensitive leaders who have heightened neo
slavery through bad leadership, long after the white slavers set the Blackman free.
” Looking at what is happening in the land, it is clear that those in power and various positions of authority use those opportunities just to satisfy themselves while the majority suffer.
“This is what new slavery means.
“This proves that even in the days of colonial slavery, it was the Blackman that made punishment against fellow black men greater.
“They betrayed and sold others to the surprise of the white”, he noted.
On the ban of Okada, the traditional head said that it is pure insensitivity that made govt decide to eradicate a major means of livelihood to the masses they have kept poor by refusing to create jobs, and killing existing industries.
“I think that govt should be thankful to Nigerians who created the Okada business to survive having been abandoned to suffer by their own leaders.
“Banning Okada without alternative sources for income is wickedness and a funny govt action.
“In some states where Okada was suddenly banned, crime rate increased fearfully”, Abubarkar emphasised.
Buttressing his slavery allegation further, he said that for instance, the policemen on duty on our roads must get returns for their various bosses or superiors, the reason they too must be ruthless to innocent citizens who they must extort and victimise to satisfy themselves.
Speaking on banditry, he described as laughable situations where bandits attacked presidential convoy and threatened to even kidnap the president himself, a development he said was first of its kind in the world.
He however declared that their is sabotage and complicity by highly placed security agents who certainly must be reaping selfishly from what has become a national pain and embarrassment, given the fact that insecurity have sacked farmers from the farms, thereby jacking up cost of food items, making life unbearable for the masses.
He proceeded to call on all his subjects to prepare to vote for the right candidate, lamenting the hardship that people faced trying to get their PVCs at the INEC offices where they were made to stand in the sun, most times endlessly.
