The management and legal stakeholders of Olusegun Okedele Clean Mining Industries Ltd have issued an urgent public alarm regarding an illegal raid, harassment, and arbitrary detention of their personnel at its licensed site in Egbeda Village, Boripe LGA, Osun State.
According to a press statement yesterday, signed and released by management of Olusegun Okedele Clean Mining Industries Ltd, operatives claiming to be officers from the Zone XI AIG Office invaded the mining site in a guerilla style , with an unmarked private vehicle.
The operatives failed to present official credentials, search warrants, or identification, upon arrival.
Key Details of the Incident:
• Rejection of Valid Documentation: The site manager, Mr. Amusa Oyekola, immediately presented valid federal mining permits and legal documentation, but the operatives rejected these documents without examination or justification.
• Arbitrary Arrest and Abduction:
Two site workers—Mr. Amusa Oyekola and Mr. Bello—were forcibly taken away. Operatives refused their requests to contact their families, legal counsel, or the site owner.
• Collusion with Suspected Land Grabbers:
The operatives executed this raid using a private vehicle belonging to Mr. Adesina Olusola, a notorious land grabber acting in concert with Yakubu Yekini (of the Aiwosi Family Compound, Iragbiji) and Kunle and Tunde Mufutau Oyetola.
These individuals have a history of illegal mining on the property and have repeatedly issued violent threats against the legitimate license holder.
• Suspicious Demands:
After leaving the site, the operatives permitted Mr. Amusa to make a brief call , instructing representative to meet them at Oke-Bale Roundabout, Osogbo—an informal location—rather than a recognized police station. The site owner (CEO) declined to meet at an unverified location due to severe security concerns and ongoing political tensions in the state.
The operatives subsequently relocated the detainees to an office facility.
When the CEO of the mining firm sought to know which department they came from, the weird operatives simply assured that they will wait for him at the entrance of Zone XI, response which heightened his apprehension.
Sequel, the owners and legal stakeholders are
urgently calling upon the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (Zone XI Command), and the Osun State Government to:
• Order the immediate and unconditional release of Mr. Amusa Oyekola and Mr. Bello.
• Investigate the plainclothes operatives for potential abuse of office, illegal arrest, and unauthorized collusion with private individuals.
• Protect legitimate, law-abiding businesses operating under valid federal licenses in Osun State from intimidation and unlawful harassment.
