As the race for the governorship of Edo state reaches a crescendo, gladiators, stakeholders and the general electorate in that state, have been caught by the fever of the looming leadership transition exercise.
The political landscape is filled with precariousness, especially as no one knows where the pendulum will swing.
Whatever the current permutations or calculations, it must be noted however, that the state had meandered in the hands of two political parties since the return of democracy in 1999.
They are the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC.
There is no gainsaying that the battle for supremacy or dominion as to who perpetually grabs the soul of the state has rather shrunk socio economic growth, never enhanced!
Ridiculously at some point, the duo fused forces to finally make the state a scapegoat, this is after the splinters or missiles from their previous heated confrontations bruised, battered and wrongly branded the state.
Presently, the admixture of the duo friends cum enemies (parties) is the beast suffocating the state’s fledgling democratic governance meant to leapfrog development through vigorous provision of dividends for collective good.
Clearly, the PD-APC vanguard had not lived up to expectation, as the small but mighty Edo has celebrated more powerful men than institutions/economy.
This is why the emergence of a daughter of the state, Patience Ndidi Key (Nee Uwagboe) for the coveted position must be seen like a bolt from the blues.
On the platform of the Peoples’ Redemption Party, PRP, PNK has arisen to stem the tides bedeviling proper socio economic and leadership advancement in Edo state.
Unlike the regular players, she is coming as a champion diaspora player whose interest in her mother land is quantum.
PNK, with a global perspective to governance is laden with a new vision poised to redefine the statusquo.
She is burdened by the current chaos and therefore longs to eradicate the lingering political mess defacing Nigeria’s Heartbeat state.
Her leadership of the Nigerians in Diaspora Chamber of Commerce , NiDCC, a business community of professionals and industry experts in the US, Nigeria, and around the world, makes her a thoroughbred for the core task of piloting the affairs of Edo state that requires passion, patriotism and dedication; a task that must expediently be devoid of deadly politicking, such which is the order in the state direly needing re engineering and redirection.
Apart from being a patriotic diaspora trailblazer, PNK is a local player who is abreast of the happenings in her hometown – reason she has undertaken this home work to place square pegs, right in square holes, to make Edo as lovely as it should be, and to make it an attractive heartbeat that ensures supply of development to the various divides.
PNK’s manifesto, woven around fostering change, driving progress and creating significant impacts in communities will speak volumes of her motherly or womanly passion and readiness to rid Edo state of leadership mess; take her away from economic quagmire; and lead her finally unto sustainable political redemption , far away from aggrandising manipulators who adorn in various apparels to manipulate the people and the state.
Suffice it therefore to say that Edo’s long patience for the key to good governance will pay off this time, especially as the people are set to say no to their age long tactical oppressors!
