The sight of the word ‘AKINKANJU’ will trigger the thought of a strong Yoruba movie!
Of course the word is synonymous with strength and capability.
It simply means “The Brave”.
But Akinkanju within the context of this article is a Non Governmental Organisation – a sentinel for empowerment with a bias for rural women.
Interestingly, the founder, Mrs. Bosede Nwachi , is a professional builder with several years of experience.
Akinkanju NGO as envisioned by Nwachi is a Self Help Initiative where women are trained to have skills in building techniques; adire making (tie & die), etc.
More so, the passion to ensure financial literacy towards helping widows, single mothers and vulnerable Nigerians to access and manage funds for sustainable social enterprises, is Akinkanju’s peculiarity.
The EcoBuildHer project is the latest of her designs, aimed at empowering rural women in Osun state with building skills using eco – friendly materials, to make them socially relevant and independent.
No doubt, AKINKANJU NGO is a not one non governmental organization, but one with a distinct mission to liberate women from the clutches of despondency and frustration in a world so demanding and competitive.
Who then will gainsay that, Bosede Nwachi (Nee Akere) is not just versed in the assemblage of materials for buildings as a career builder, she is a woman passionate about harnessing potentials for maximal transformation towards self reliance and nation building.
